The National Assembly has expressed the will of the people regarding the South China Sea.
On the afternoon of June 24th in Hanoi, the National Assembly Office held an international press conference to announce the results of the 7th Session of the 13th National Assembly. The press conference was chaired by the Head of the National Assembly Office, Nguyen Hanh Phuc.
As the first session to implement the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the National Assembly devoted most of its time to legislative work, focusing on reviewing, amending, supplementing, and promulgating new legal documents, especially those concerning the organization of the state apparatus, the socialist-oriented market economy, human rights, and the fundamental rights and obligations of citizens.

Responding to numerous questions from journalists regarding China's increased actions in the area where it illegally deployed the Haiyang 981 oil rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, the Head of the National Assembly Office, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, stated: "The National Assembly affirms that China's illegal deployment of the Haiyang 981 oil rig on Vietnam's continental shelf is a serious violation of Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction, a violation of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, a violation of the Declaration of Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, and contrary to the high-level agreements of the two Parties and two States. The National Assembly, along with all compatriots and soldiers nationwide and overseas, express their concern and resolutely oppose China's wrongful violations and demand that China withdraw the oil rig from Vietnam's waters. The National Assembly also expresses its gratitude to international public opinion, organizations, and individuals who have supported Vietnam."
Regarding the amendment of Resolution 35 on the vote of confidence for positions elected and approved by the National Assembly and People's Councils, the Head of the National Assembly Office, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, stated that during discussions in the plenary session and in committees, many delegates still expressed concerns about the subjects of the vote of confidence, the timing of the vote, and the levels of confidence. Therefore, the National Assembly decided not to approve this Resolution yet, and this matter will be postponed to the next session to allow for more thorough preparation, ensuring quality and high consensus within the National Assembly and among voters.
