Iran's parliament has overwhelmingly approved a bill to list the US Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist group, the Mehr news agency reported.

Earlier, in response to the US decision to declare the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization, Iran's Supreme National Security Council decided to recognize CENTCOM as a terrorist organization and the US itself as a "sponsor of terrorism".

In total, the law consists of 14 provisions. According to the last provision, the law comes into force upon ratification.

Under the passed law, Iran can take retaliatory measures against countries and people that cooperate with CENTCOM.

In addition, the Iranian government must protect all legal entities and individuals "cooperating with the IRGC at home and abroad from possible legal and moral harm caused by the inclusion of the IRGC in the list of terrorist groups," Mehr news agency said.

The government also needs to neutralize the US measures through negotiations on this issue with international organizations, in addition to bilateral and trilateral negotiations with other countries.
