The National Assembly is seeking feedback on the draft regulations for monitoring general education.
The conclusions of the monitoring report are well-founded, and the methodology used is scientific and accurate.
On the morning of July 5th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Supervisory Delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee held a conference to gather opinions on the draft report on the results of monitoring the implementation of policies and laws on quality assurance and the curriculum and textbooks for general education.
At the conference, delegates offered numerous suggestions for the draft monitoring report and agreed with the observations and conclusions of the monitoring report. The report has four parts: an assessment of the issuance of legal documents, an assessment of implementation results, a general assessment, and proposed recommendations.

Monitoring the implementation of quality policies, laws, and textbook programs for general education.
Dr. Nguyen Kim Dung, Deputy Director of the Institute of Educational Research at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, stated that the conclusions of the monitoring report are well-founded and the methodology is scientific and accurate. However, the report lacks recommendations for monitoring the quality of schools with foreign elements. Many parts of the monitoring report point out existing shortcomings but do not offer strong and focused recommendations for addressing them.
The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province, Thai Van Long, agreed with the report that the curriculum for some subjects is still too demanding, focusing too much on teaching literacy and not giving due importance to teaching character, and the integration of extracurricular content into lessons is still too rigid.
Representative Thai Van Long said: “One reason given is that the management of state agencies is still weak, and they are slow to make macro-level decisions to overcome difficulties in education. I think saying 'state agencies' is a bit too general. It needs to be more specific; it refers to the state management agencies for education and training. This weakness exists not only at the central level but also at the provincial and district levels.”
