The resolution said that North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles is a huge threat to regional security, and demanded that North Korea refrain from further provocative actions and immediately abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile development plans.
The resolution also stressed the need to call on countries in the United Nations to take more specific and stricter measures against North Korea.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe affirmed that Japan will vigorously deploy diplomatic cooperation to put pressure on North Korea at the highest level.
The resolution also stated the Japanese Government's determination to prevent North Korea from launching missiles and requested the Japanese Government to be ready to prepare for the worst-case scenario to protect the lives and property of the people, Japan's territory, territorial waters and airspace. At the same time, it will make efforts to accurately and promptly inform the people about the emergency situation.
Previously, on December 4, the Japanese Senate also passed a resolution strongly criticizing North Korea's actions despite the international community's objections when it launched a ballistic missile on November 29./.
