This is an important discussion aimed at finding effective solutions to boost production, open up the domestic market, and at the same time ensure macroeconomic stability, keep inflation lower than in 2012; and address existing problems in healthcare, food safety and hygiene, public order and security, traffic safety, and the control of counterfeit and substandard goods…
The Government's supplementary report presented at the opening session stated that: In the first four months of 2013, the Government continued to pursue the goal of macroeconomic stability, keeping inflation lower, and achieving higher growth… In addition, initial results were achieved in removing difficulties for production and business activities, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter increasing by 4.89%, meeting the set target. Some industrial products showed relatively high growth rates; inventories gradually decreased. Agriculture continued to develop steadily, especially rice production and seafood exploitation…
However, the Economic Committee, the body reviewing the Government Report, stated: "The tasks for the remaining months of 2013 are extremely challenging; the issue is to harmoniously manage and ensure the achievement of both growth and inflation control targets under conditions where the economy still harbors many unstable factors."
To fulfill the socio-economic development tasks for 2013, the Government identified six main solutions to focus on directing and managing: Continuing to consistently pursue the goal of strengthening macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and achieving higher growth than in 2012; focusing on removing difficulties for production and business, handling bad debts, developing markets, increasing purchasing power, and boosting consumption of goods; effectively implementing key tasks of economic restructuring; ensuring social security and welfare, strengthening disaster prevention and control, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change; promoting administrative reform, improving the efficiency of state management, strengthening the fight against corruption and waste; strengthening national defense and security, ensuring social order and safety, and improving the effectiveness of foreign affairs.
The current socio-economic situation and proposed solutions will be the focus of discussion and feedback from National Assembly deputies, so that the Government can consider and implement them in order to achieve the set plan.
