International community calls for investigation into the death of Palestinian official.
According to AFP, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on December 10 called on Israel to swiftly investigate the death of senior Palestinian official Ziad Abu Ein, who was killed in a clash with Israeli forces.
UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Ban Ki-moon had “called on Israeli authorities to conduct a swift and transparent investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Minister Abu Ein.”

On the same day, the European Union's High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, called for an "immediate" investigation into the death of senior Palestinian official Ziad Abu Ein, which occurred during a clash with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.
Furthermore, the Jordanian government also condemned the assault by Israeli soldiers that led to the death of Ziad Abu Ein.
On the Palestinian side, President Mahmud Abbas condemned the "barbaric" murder of Palestinian official Ziad Abu Ein on the same day, and announced that measures would be taken in response to the incident.
Palestine's official WAFA news agency said Abbas condemned the "barbaric assault that led to the death of Ziad Abu Ein - the minister without portfolio in the Palestinian Authority (PA) responsible for handling Israeli settlements - and called it 'a barbaric act that cannot be tolerated or accepted.'"
Abbas said: "We will take the necessary measures after we have the results of the investigation into this incident."
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon expressed regret over the death of the Palestinian official and said the incident was under investigation.
According to Palestinian security and medical sources, Abu Ein died after being beaten by Israeli forces during a protest in a West Bank village.
