Quy Chau celebrates 610 years since its name was established (1415-2025) and receives the Second Class Labor Medal.

On the morning of May 28th, Quy Chau district held a ceremony to commemorate the 610th anniversary of the name Quy Chau (1415-2025) and to receive the Second Class Labor Medal.

Attending the ceremony were: Comrade Pham Trong Hoang - Member of the Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee; Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders from departments, agencies, districts, cities, and towns; sister districts; current and former leaders of Quy Chau district; and a large number of people from Quy Chau district living, studying, and working in their hometown, in the province, and throughout the country.

A rich historical tradition

In his speech at the ceremony, Comrade Bui Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the Quy Chau District People's Committee, affirmed: In the flow of national history, Quy Chau has always been closely associated with Nghe An province. In particular, on the 5th day of the 4th month of the summer of the 13th year of Vinh Lac, which is May 13, 1415, in Giao Chi, Dien Chau prefecture, the Ming dynasty officially established Quy Chau, also known as Quy Chau. This is an important historical milestone, marking the birth of the administrative name Quy Chau, a name that has existed and accompanied this land for the past 610 years.

From a once impoverished area, Quy Chau district has transformed and developed, leaving a positive impression on friends and tourists as a land rich in potential and aspiring to progress.

During the period of reform, Quy Chau district has undergone significant transformation. Under the leadership of the District Party Committee through various terms, especially during the period 2015-2024, Quy Chau district has gradually restructured its economy, improved the material and spiritual lives of its people, and contributed to the successful implementation of the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee on socio-economic development in the western region of Nghe An province.

Thanks to the great efforts and determination of the Party Committee, Government, and people of Quy Chau district: the average economic growth rate reached 9.5%; the average added value per capita more than doubled; and budget revenue in the district grew impressively.

Infrastructure systems, especially transportation, urban, and rural infrastructure, have received focused investment and are becoming increasingly modern and well-equipped. Significant progress has been made in the cultural and social sectors, with noticeable improvements in the quality of education, healthcare, social welfare, and poverty reduction. National defense and security are ensured, and social order and safety are maintained.

Creating new momentum and strength

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leadership, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh congratulated the proud achievements of the Party Committee, Government, and people of all ethnic groups in Quy Chau district over the past period.

He emphasized: These achievements are the culmination of revolutionary traditions, of unity, solidarity, perseverance, and determination to overcome all difficulties and challenges of many generations of cadres, Party members, armed forces, and people throughout the district.

In the coming period, in order for Quy Chau district to successfully achieve its set goals, the Party Committee, Government, and people of all ethnic groups in Quy Chau district need to continue to strongly promote the revolutionary tradition and achievements already attained, focusing on leading and directing the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 26th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025, with a focus on a number of key tasks.

Accordingly, the district needs to strengthen the building of a clean and strong Party and political system: Upholding the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Party Committee, Government, and people throughout the district. Improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of grassroots Party organizations, the quality of cadres and Party members, and especially focusing on training, nurturing, and utilizing cadres from ethnic minority groups.

Innovate the Party's leadership methods, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government management and administration, and enhance the activities of the Fatherland Front and other mass organizations.

Strengthening the fight against corruption, negative practices, and waste is linked to studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh and implementing the revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and Party members. Promoting democracy at the grassroots level and emphasizing the role of village elders and influential people in disseminating information and mobilizing the people.

Simultaneously, we must accelerate economic restructuring linked to potential and advantages: Focusing on effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of the locality, especially forestry and tourism. Promoting agricultural and forestry production towards a commodity-based approach, linked to processing and building OCOP product brands.

Develop community-based tourism, ecotourism, and experiential tourism through integrated value chains. Proactively promote investment, seek markets, and develop traditional production, business, and crafts. Actively integrate resources, especially from national target programs, to invest in the comprehensive and focused development of socio-economic infrastructure.

At the same time, the district needs to comprehensively develop culture and society, and improve the lives of the people: Focus on improving the quality of education and training, and healthcare for the people. Effectively implement the National Target Program for sustainable poverty reduction, and effectively implement the policy of supporting housing for poor households and households with housing difficulties as directed by the Provincial Party Committee.

Paying attention to and caring for policy beneficiaries, families of war heroes, village elders, and respected individuals. Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities. Accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation to better serve the people.

Ensuring strong national defense and security, social order and safety: Thoroughly understanding the situation, proactively preventing and thwarting all subversive plots and activities. Maintaining political security, social order and safety, and rural security.

“In the coming period, Quy Chau district needs to focus intensely on leading and directing the effective implementation of Resolution No. 11 of the Central Committee (13th term) and the conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat on the reorganization of the organizational structure and administrative units at all levels. This is an important political task, requiring high determination and consensus. The Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee believe that the Party Committee, the Government, and the people of Quy Chau district will successfully implement this policy, creating new momentum and strength for development,” emphasized Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh.

On this occasion, the President awarded the Second Class Labor Order to the Party Committee, Government, and People of Quy Chau District; and the Third Class Labor Order to two individuals: Comrade Bui Van Hung – Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Chau District, and Comrade Nguyen Thanh Ha – Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Chau District.

The Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Commendation to four individuals for their outstanding achievements.

The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province presented Quy Chau district with a banner bearing the inscription "Promoting the 610-year tradition of Quy Chau's name: unity, innovation, construction, and development".
