Planning industrial and commercial projects along Ho Chi Minh road

According to the industrial and commercial development plan along Ho Chi Minh Highway, there will be about 40 programs and projects invested in construction.

According to Decision No. 2931/QD-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which was recently issued, approving the Planning for industrial and commercial development along the Ho Chi Minh Road to 2025, with a vision to 2035, effective from July 13, 2016, the goal is to strive to develop industry and commerce along the route at a fairly high growth rate, contributing to increasing the proportion of industry and commerce in the economic structure, creating jobs, solving social problems and increasing the average income of people in the areas where the route passes.

Regarding industry, according to this Decision, the planning includes the development of mineral exploitation and processing industry; development of agricultural and forestry product processing industry; development of construction materials production industry; mechanical and metallurgical industry; garment, leather and footwear industry; chemical industry and electricity production and distribution.

The development of the mineral exploitation and processing industry will focus on exploiting mines and mining sites that are being exploited or have mineral signs that have been assessed for reserve levels. Exploiting and deeply processing some types of minerals such as iron, limestone, cement, glass sand, etc.

For the agricultural and forestry processing industry, the plan prioritizes investment in developing projects to deeply process agricultural products with high economic value such as tea, rubber, coffee, rice, cashew and typical agricultural products; and processing wood and wood products of each locality along the route.

Focus on producing conventional building materials, promoting the development of unburnt materials and new materials to meet the demand for building materials in the region. Invest in a number of iron and steel projects, metallurgy in some areas with raw material sources as well as develop mechanical and repair facilities.

By 2025, synchronously develop power source and grid systems in accordance with the national power development plan and local power development plans to provide quality, continuous, safe and efficient electricity; research and invest in exploring the development of wind power and solar power.

Regarding trade development, along the Ho Chi Minh Highway, new wholesale markets, border markets and class I, II and III markets will be built and upgraded to serve people's consumption needs, and the exchange and purchase of agricultural products and food. Developing commercial centers and supermarkets, with special attention paid to developing projects in border economic zones, city centers and towns; building transit and logistics centers, gradually deploying services according to the model of a logistic center to serve the export and import of goods...

To do this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requires focusing on infrastructure development, especially transportation, industrial park and cluster infrastructure and commercial infrastructure.
