Quy Hop: Two-thirds of reservoirs and dams have reached "dead" water levels.
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, Quy Hop district has 153 large and small reservoirs and 50 temporary dams providing water for agricultural production on more than 2,600 hectares. Recently, due to prolonged heatwaves and the lowest rainfall in many years, most reservoirs only have about 20 to 30% of their designed capacity, with more than two-thirds reaching dead water levels. This has caused significant difficulties for the summer-autumn and main crop seasons in Quy Hop district.

According to the plan, the entire district will plant 1,600 hectares of rice during the summer-autumn season, with the remainder intended for the main crop. However, due to a lack of water, as of June 9th, only three communes in the district – Chau Cuong, Chau Dinh, and Chau Quang – have sown seedlings for planting 650 hectares of summer-autumn rice. Currently, the Ban Muong dam in Chau Thai commune, the Tong Huong dam in Chau Quang commune, and the Ban Que dam in Chau Dinh commune still have water to irrigate the sown seedlings. However, if there is no heavy rain within the next 7 to 10 days, these seedlings will become overripe and must be discarded due to lack of water for transplanting. Therefore, the entire area of over 2,600 hectares in Quy Hop will have to wait for rain before being converted to planting the main rice crop.
