Quy Hop: 'Vinh orange' revenue reaches 475 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Quy Hop district has more than 1,000 hectares of oranges for business, with an average yield of 19 tons/ha; revenue from orange trees reaches more than 400 billion VND/year.
Quy Hop oranges were granted a geographical indication certificate by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2007 and are known to consumers nationwide under the brand name "Vinh oranges" for their delicious quality.

Currently, Quy Hop has 2,255 hectares of oranges concentrated in the basalt red soil of Nghia Xuan, Minh Hop, Van Loi and Ha Son communes; the orange area increased sharply in the period 2015 - 2017, reaching nearly 2 times compared to before 2015. The average income of orange growers is about 300 - 500 million VND/ha, some households even earn nearly 1 billion VND/ha.
Quy Hop oranges with the brand name "Vinh oranges" have been present in many provinces and cities across the country; consumption demand is estimated at about 150,000 tons/year and is forecast to increase sharply in the following years, while local production only meets 12.7% of demand.

To expand the market and increase competitiveness, Quy Hop has developed a plan to develop raw orange growing areas towards commodity production in the period of 2016 - 2020 and the following years.
Currently, Quy Hop has organized the first congress of Vinh Orange Production and Trading Association of Quy Hop district, term 2017 - 2020, which is a professional social organization of households growing, processing and trading orange products in the district.
