Quy Hop tests two high-yield hybrid corn varieties

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 16, Vietnam Disinfection Company and Syngenta Vietnam Company coordinated with the Department of Agriculture of Quy Hop district to organize a field workshop to evaluate the productivity of two hybrid corn varieties NK66 and NK6326.

Corn NK66 and NK 6326 are two corn varieties produced by Syngenta Company and are currently grown in many localities across the country.

These are two hybrid corn varieties with a short growing period of 100 - 110 days. The advantage of these corn varieties is that they can be grown on many different fields and can be grown 3 crops a year. The plants have upright leaves, compact stems, wide adaptability, can withstand dense planting and are resistant to lodging. The cobs are large, the cobs are small, and the grains are even and plump. If planted and cared for properly according to technical procedures, the yield of the NK66 corn variety for grain can reach 2.5 - 3 quintals/sao and the yield of the NK 6236 corn variety for animal feed is expected to reach 2-2.5 tons/sao.

In this year's winter crop, these two corn varieties were tested on 100 hectares in 11 hamlets and villages of Chau Cuong commune. By harvest time, the corn varieties had grown well, had few pests and diseases and demonstrated outstanding advantages. After harvest, the yield reached over 48 tons/ha.

At the workshop, delegates highly appreciated the advantages of the above two corn varieties and wished to put these corn varieties into mass production locally throughout the district, in order to improve agricultural production efficiency and stabilize farmers' lives.
