Quy Hop earns over 5 billion VND from spring peanut crop

(Baonghean.vn) - Since the beginning of June, people in the colored communes of Quy Hop district have been gathering in the fields to harvest 106 hectares of spring peanuts.

This year's spring peanut crop, Quy Hop mainly produces peanut varieties: L14, L23, which are drought-resistant and have high productivity. Although there was a drought at the beginning of the season, the rains then continued in waves, helping the peanuts grow and develop well, so the productivity was quite high. On average, each hectare produced 1.8 tons of dried tubers, the total spring peanut output of the district is estimated at 191 tons. The current price of peanuts is over 30,000 VND/kg, the income from the spring peanut crop of the district reached over 5 billion VND.

Communes with large areas of spring peanuts in Quy Hop district are Tam Hop, Dong Hop, Chau Loc, Tho Hop and Chau Quang. Currently, spring peanuts have been basically harvested, and people continue to prepare the land to sow peanuts for the summer crop. By-products from peanut stalks are used by people to dry or soak to make food for cattle and buffaloes, contributing to maintaining and promoting the district's livestock industry.
