Bill Gates' $40 billion charity fund invests in Vietnam

In recent years, the billionaire’s fund has continued to invest and increase its ownership in VEIL, an investment fund managed by Dragon Capital. This shows the attractiveness of Vietnamese stocks and the prospects of Vietnamese businesses.
Established in 1995, VEIL is the oldest and largest investment fund in Vietnam today with total assets of 900 million USD. In July 2016, VEIL was listed on the London Stock Exchange (UK). After listing, VEIL has become a major channel to attract foreign capital for Vietnamese businesses.
Currently, VEIL is investing and holding shares in leading enterprises in Vietnam such as: Vinamilk (19.9%), MBBank (5.98%), FPT Corporation (5.65%), and 4.97% in PetroVietnam Gas Corporation, 4.51% Vietcombank, 3.38% Mobile World... The market value of VEIL's investments in Vietnam is up to several billion USD.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the world's largest charitable foundation, founded in 2000 by Bill and Melinda Gates. The foundation was originally created to improve healthcare, reduce global poverty, and support access to advanced information technology in the United States.
The fund's main source of funding comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust - the property of billionaire Bill Gates and his wife. In addition, the fund also recorded a large contribution from Warren Buffett. As of the end of 2015, the value of his contributed shares reached 17 billion USD. The total assets of the fund are currently 39.5 billion USD.
The fund's investment portfolio consists mainly of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway shares and US government bonds. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust has invested $4.7 billion in charitable activities. In addition, the fund also invests heavily in consumer and industrial goods.
According to Forbes, as of August 9, Bill Gates is still the richest person in the world with a total asset of more than 78 billion USD. The chairman and founder of Microsoft Corporation has always implemented the investment strategy of "putting eggs in many baskets" in recent years. He currently holds 18% of Microsoft shares, has a fund management company Cascade Investment and a trust fund, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, which invests in many stocks and funds around the world.
