Consumer rights and how to complain when there is a violation
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in March 2017, consumer protection activities will be simultaneously deployed nationwide in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day - March 15. This activity aims to raise awareness of compliance with consumer protection laws among market participants, especially individuals and organizations trading in goods.
Since 2015, the Government has decided that March 15th of every year is Vietnam Consumer Rights Day. Consumer Rights Day is held to affirm the role, position and importance of consumer rights protection for the stable and sustainable development of society and the country.
In a recent research survey conducted by the Institute for Social, Economic and Environmental Research, nearly 90% of surveyed consumers said they did not know about agencies or associations that protect consumer rights and their interests.
Consumer issues are very common, especially those related to the quality and origin of goods as well as service style. Therefore, in addition to paying attention to information about products and services, consumers should also equip themselves with basic knowledge about their rights and obligations as well as how to complain when those rights are violated.
Consumers are defined by the Law on Consumer Protection 2010 as people who buy and use goods and services for consumption and living purposes of individuals, families and organizations.
