(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in March 2017, consumer protection activities will be simultaneously implemented nationwide to commemorate Vietnam Consumer Rights Day - March 15th. This activity aims to raise awareness of compliance with consumer protection laws among market participants, especially individuals and organizations trading in goods.

Since 2015, the Government has designated March 15th as Vietnam Consumer Rights Day. Consumer Rights Day is organized to affirm the role, position, and importance of protecting consumer rights in the stable and sustainable development of society and the country.

In a recent survey conducted by the Institute for Social, Economic and Environmental Research, nearly 90% of surveyed consumers stated that they were unaware of consumer protection agencies and associations, and the rights they are entitled to.

Consumer issues are very common, especially those related to the quality and origin of goods, as well as service. Therefore, in addition to paying attention to information about products and services, consumers should also equip themselves with basic knowledge about their rights and obligations, as well as how to file complaints when those rights are violated.

Consumers are defined by the 2010 Law on Protection of Consumer Rights as individuals who purchase and use goods and services for personal, family, or organizational consumption and living purposes.
