Yonhap news agency quoted the Prime Minister's Office as saying that during his first field trip after taking up the role of acting President, Mr. Hwang called on JCS officials to heighten their vigilance.
“A small hole can collapse a large dyke... We are facing a serious security situation because we cannot completely rule out the possibility of North Korea taking provocative actions near the Northern Limit Line,” he stressed. In addition, Mr. Hwang Kyo-ahn also said that Pyongyang could carry out further provocative actions at any time, depending on the decision of the North Korean leadership.
Accompanying Mr. Hwang on this visit were senior officials such as Defense Minister Han Min-koo, JCS Chairman Lee Sun-jin, Head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Lee Suk-joon and Head of the National Security Agency Kim Kwan-jin.
