Mr. Le Van Nga - Chairman of Quynh Thang Commune People's Committee said: Currently, in Quynh Thang Commune, there are 15 hectares of oranges and sweet tangerines, with nearly 30 households participating in production. Orange trees are gradually affirming their high economic efficiency for farmers. Some households have applied science and technology to grow late-ripening oranges with high efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Hamlet 1, Ngoc Son Commune, Quynh Luu District is a typical example. With 2 hectares of late-ripening V2 oranges, his family earned nearly 1 billion VND. Mr. Toan said: in 2008, his family went to Quynh Thang to buy land for cultivation. Through understanding the market, he realized that the output for oranges was very good, so he gradually replaced rubber with oranges with 1,200 late-ripening V2 orange trees taken from Quy Hop District.

During the planting process, working and researching, learning about science and technology in care, the orange gardens of the families developed quickly. By the 4th year, V2 oranges began to bear fruit. In the first season, Mr. Toan pruned the fruit to provide nutrients to the tree and ensure the oranges grew well and developed for high yield. Thanks to that, in the second year of harvest, he sold 15 tons of oranges to the market, worth nearly 1 billion VND. The current selling price of oranges in the garden is 45,000 VND/kg.
Through research, late orange varieties are often more difficult to care for than early orange varieties, requiring growers to regularly monitor the growth of the trees, paying special attention to preventing root rot, leaf rot, red spiders, and scabs. Fertilization must follow the correct technical process.
Because it does not coincide with the peak harvest season, oranges are easy to sell and prices are stable. Some farmers have also come to learn from the experience to continue breeding late orange V2.
