(Baonghean.vn) - Faced with the outbreak of rice leaf roller pests affecting summer-autumn rice crops, which are currently in the late tillering and heading stages, Quynh Luu district is actively directing localities, relevant departments, and farmers to urgently spray pesticides to control the outbreak and prevent it from affecting rice yield and production.

After two days of launching the campaign, many localities have now sprayed pesticides on 60-90% of the area. Many communes have established teams to spray pesticides in a concentrated manner, mixing the correct dosages and following proper procedures to improve pest control effectiveness. Inspections of sprayed rice fields show that the mortality rate of rice leaf rollers is over 90%. To assess the effectiveness of the pesticides, the district's Plant Protection Station proactively supplies each locality with a specific type of pesticide for easier monitoring.
This time, Quynh Luu district has allocated over 1 billion VND from its budget to support 50% of the cost of pesticides for localities throughout the district. It has also requested communes and towns to allocate budgets to support the remaining 20-50% of pesticide costs for farmers, depending on the overall situation in each locality.
