(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of the clear weather and gradually receding water, Quynh Luu district actively directed localities to carry out environmental sanitation and disinfect areas at risk of disease outbreaks.

Yen Luu Parish, Quynh Giang Commune is one of the areas that has been severely flooded in recent days. Out of 350 households in the hamlet, 40 households were submerged in floodwaters. From the night of October 9 to the morning of October 12, the water level rose by an average of 2-3 meters, many roads were completely isolated, making traffic difficult.

In particular, in the hamlet, there are 4 large farms with more than 7,000 chickens and ducks that were swept away and died by the flood, causing the rural environment in this area to be at an alarming level. Almost all activities of the people were disrupted, and animals and people living together were very unhygienic.

After the flood receded, people are now focusing on cleaning their houses, collecting trash and dead animals to gradually stabilize their lives.

Along with environmental sanitation measures, Quynh Giang commune is currently assigning commune health station staff, village health teams, veterinary staff and local authorities to go to the area to inspect the situation, instruct people to clean up houses and barns, sprinkle lime powder, disinfect water sources with chemicals to ensure hygiene, and avoid diarrhea and poisoning due to contamination.

The total damage to the whole district in this flood was about tens of billions of VND.

Now that the rain has stopped and the water has begun to recede, Quynh Luu district has quickly directed communes to urgently mobilize forces to help people overcome the consequences. At the same time, the district budget has been allocated to purchase chemicals, tools, and means of disinfection; and increased propaganda for people to pay attention to sanitation and epidemic prevention after floods, limiting disease outbreaks.
