Quynh Luu: Summer-autumn rice yield reaches 5 tons/ha

(Baonghean.vn) - This year's summer-autumn rice crop, despite many unfavorable weather conditions, thanks to timely care and prevention, the yield of Quynh Luu district reached 5 tons/ha.

Identifying that summer-autumn crop production always faces many difficulties due to drought and floods affecting crop yields. Therefore, right from the beginning of the crop, the district directed localities to do a good job of irrigation, ensuring water sources for crops; at the same time, propagandizing people to focus on visiting fields, taking care of and preventing pests and diseases at each stage of rice growth.

Thanks to proactive pest control, the summer-autumn rice crop is growing well. At present, many rice fields have begun to ripen, and farmers in An Hoa, Quynh Ngoc, Quynh Ba, Quynh Yen communes... are mobilizing manpower, machinery and bronze boats to harvest.

As of August 25, the entire district has begun harvesting about 500 hectares of summer-autumn rice, with an average yield of 2.5 quintals/sao, equivalent to nearly 5 tons/ha.

In order to avoid floods, the district directed localities to propagate to people to urgently go to the fields to harvest; for some areas of ripe rice, it is necessary to harvest early with the motto "green at home is better than ripe in the fields"./.
