Quynh Luu: Dredging 50 km of irrigation canals

(Baonghean.vn) -Faced with the El Nino phenomenon continuing to affect agricultural production, the Quynh Luu District Irrigation Enterprise has developed specific drought prevention plans for each region and launched a campaign to dredge canals from March 19.

After 5 days of operation, about 50 km/80 km of level 1 and level 2 canals were cleared, moss was cleared, creating conditions for clear flow.

In addition, Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise directed the facility to clear the flow, dredge, and clear algae in some main intra-field canals such as canals N26, N266, and N24.

In the 2016 Spring crop, the entire Quynh Luu district planted 7,550 hectares of rice. Currently, the rainfall, flow, and storage capacity of large irrigation reservoirs in the district are equivalent to the same period in 2015. However, with the current water storage and hydrometeorological forecast information, drought will occur as severe as in the 2015 Winter-Spring crop. Therefore, to ensure irrigation water for the Winter-Spring crop, the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise inspected and evaluated the water source at large and small dams in the area, and at the same time developed a specific irrigation and drought prevention plan for each region.
