At the Vinh City Sports Arena, matches were held this morning to determine the top two positions in the two groups of the women's volleyball tournament. In Group A, Tan Ky defeated Thai Hoa 3-0 to take first place. In Group B, the match between the top two teams, Quy Hop and Vinh City, was exciting and dramatic, with Quy Hop ultimately winning 3-1. In the two matches that were more formalities, Quy Chau defeated Do Luong 3-2, and Nghia Dan defeated Tuong Duong 3-0. In the afternoon, the two semi-final matches took place at Kim Lien Stadium (Nam Dan). Vinh City defeated Tan Ky 3-1, while Quy Hop easily beat Thai Hoa 3-0. Thus, this morning's final at Kim Lien Stadium will be a rematch between Vinh City and Quy Hop.
Today's badminton tournaments featured the semi-finals (morning), finals, and third-place match (afternoon). Except for the women's singles final, where Tran Thi Thu Ha (Quy Hop) proved superior to Nguyen Thu Thuy (Thai Hoa Town), the finals in the other events were all balanced, exciting, and lasted three sets. The most captivating match was the mixed doubles final between Nam and Hai (Cua Lo) and Tu and Mui (Vinh City). Besides the beautiful rallies and dramatic chases, this match was also noteworthy for the referee's decisions and the reactions of the involved parties.
In the first set, the referee called an out-of-bounds fault for the Nam-Hai pair, but the shuttlecock was actually quite deep in the court. The Cua Lo pair protested vehemently, and it took nearly 5 minutes for the organizers to resolve the issue. In the third set, the referee again called an inaccurate point for the Vinh City pair, causing the male player from Cua Lo to threaten to withdraw. When the referee persuaded him to return to the court, after only 3 rallies, another referee decision provoked a strong reaction from officials of the Vinh City Cultural and Sports Center, who threatened to file a complaint. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the Cua Lo pair. In addition to the gold medal in the mixed doubles event, Cua Lo also won two more gold medals in the men's singles and men's doubles events. The remaining two gold medals went to Vinh City (women's doubles) and Quy Hop (women's singles).
