Musical 'Square Banyan Tree' premiere
On the evening of December 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House, the play The Square Banyan Tree (script: Tran Kim Khoi, director: Hoa Ha) about the protection of sea and island sovereignty will officially premiere to the audience.
The play is a timely story about the struggle of fishermen to stay at sea and the clever policy of dealing with "strange ships" of the forces tasked with protecting the security and sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands. The square banyan tree is staged in a new, youthful style of musical theater. Familiar songs: Faraway islands, Very close to Truong Sa, Fatherland seen from the sea, Fatherland calls my name, Vietnamese people, Southern country's mountains and rivers... or the vọng cổ song Tiếng hỏi nước Sông are used smoothly in the flow of the play, evoking many emotions in the audience.

With actors from many fields: singer Hong Hanh, Quoc Dai, 2014 “golden bell of vọng cổ” Minh Truong, actors Van Trang, Chanh Truc, Ba Cuong, supermodel Minh Quan…, director Hoa Ha has placed the characters very reasonably to help promote each character’s strengths. After the premiere, the play will be toured for free to serve schools and military units in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces.
