Deployment of forces to ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year of the Goat 2015.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 14th, the Vinh City People's Committee held a ceremony to launch a campaign to combat crime, prevent the use of fireworks, and ensure security, order, and traffic safety during the Lunar New Year of 2015.

Attending the event were Comrade Vo Viet Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Sinh, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee; Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police; along with leaders of the city, specialized departments, and 25 wards and communes in Vinh City.

Vinh City is the political, economic, cultural, and social center of the province. In the period leading up to the Lunar New Year of 2015, the security situation showed signs of complexity, with various organizations and groups attempting to collude in acts that destabilize society. Several types of crime, such as debt collection, theft, robbery, gambling, and drug trafficking and possession, showed an increase.

Of particular concern is the potential recurrence of illegal trading, transportation, storage, and use of fireworks; and the increasing number of vehicles participating in traffic and businesses operating on sidewalks and in markets, affecting traffic safety and urban order.

To maintain social stability and ensure that the people can celebrate a joyful, exciting, and safe traditional Tet holiday, the Vinh City People's Committee organized a campaign to launch a high-intensity effort to combat crime, prevent the use of fireworks, and ensure security, order, and traffic safety during Tet 2015.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Sinh, Chairman of the City People's Committee, requested heads of departments, agencies, mass organizations, wards, communes, and leaders of agencies, units, and schools in the area to effectively implement measures such as: organizing propaganda and mobilization of the people to raise awareness, prevent, combat, and report crimes; directing functional forces in units and localities to focus on strongly suppressing all types of crimes and social evils; strengthening patrols and controls, detecting and handling violations of traffic safety and urban order; and focusing on resolutely preventing the trading and use of firecrackers...

Immediately after the launch ceremony, the authorities conducted a parade through the streets to publicize and encourage people to participate in the movement.
