(Baonghean.vn) - Agreeing on the policy of adjusting the overall planning of the Southeast Economic Zone, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the Provincial People's Committee and the Economic Zone Management Board to review and consider the land fund during the implementation process.

On the afternoon of June 27, the Provincial Party Standing Committee continued its regular June meeting. At the meeting, delegates listened to and gave their opinions on the task of adjusting the overall master plan for the construction of the Southeast Economic Zone (EZ).

The Southeast Economic Zone was established by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 85/2007/QD-TTg dated June 11, 2007. The general planning for the construction of the Southeast Economic Zone was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1534/QD-TTg dated October 21, 2008.

Up to now, after 12 years of implementation, the Master Plan for the construction of the Southeast Economic Zone needs to be reviewed, examined, and evaluated during the implementation process to promptly adjust it to suit the socio-economic development situation in the new development stage.

In the process of implementing the general planning for the construction of the Southeast Economic Zone, many problems have arisen such as: Some functional areas such as urban areas, duty-free zones, and professional school areas are difficult to attract investment; some functional areas have a large population, making it difficult to carry out site clearance work, making it difficult to follow the planning...

It is necessary to adjust the overall planning to further promote the location advantages and potential of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone to develop industry, urban areas, services, and tourism associated with existing infrastructure.

Location and regional connections of the Southeast Economic Zone.

According to the Project of Adjusting the Master Plan for the Construction of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone to 2035, with a vision to 2050, the economic zone has a total area of ​​20,776.47 hectares, including 26 communes, wards and towns in 6 districts, cities and towns: Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen, Hoang Mai town, Cua Lo and Vinh city.

The planning objective of this adjustment task is to build the Southeast Economic Zone in line with the national development strategy and Vietnam's marine development strategy; into a dynamic and sustainable economic development area; a center for tourism, service, urban, industrial, port and traditional marine economic development; combining socio-economic development with strengthening and consolidating national defense and security, and resilience and adaptation to climate change.

The functional nature of the Southeast Economic Zone is determined to be a key, multi-industry, multi-functional economic zone, focusing on the development of mechanical, electronic, information technology, automobile manufacturing, high-tech equipment, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural, forestry and seafood processing industries; an international economic and trade center of the North Central region, an important gateway from the Central, Upper Laos, and Northeastern Thailand to Central Vietnam.

Forecast of population size of Southeast Economic Zone: In 2018, the population was: 148,683 people. It is expected that by 2025, the population will reach about 180,000 people; by 2035, the population will reach about 250,000 people.

Construction land scale, forecast by 2025 industrial construction land is about 2,500 ha, by 2035 it will reach about 5,000 - 5,500 ha; Forecast by 2025 urban construction land is about 2,000 ha; by 2035 it will be about 3,500 ha.

According to the project, there will be planning of duty-free zones, urban areas, urban public centers, professional schools, etc. in line with current development trends. Priority will be given to planning the development of land funds for industry, services, tourism, etc. Research and plan to increase the land area of ​​industrial parks in the economic zone from 4,461.0 ha to about 5,500.0 ha.

Concluding this content, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh affirmed that the province agreed with the policy of adjusting the Southeast Economic Zone, but also requested the Provincial People's Committee and the Economic Zone Management Board to review the land fund to see the land use status of the projects as well as in the industrial and urban areas in the Economic Zone.
