(Baonghean.vn) -Enraged that his future father-in-law's family wouldn't allow him to marry the girl he loved, Le Van Luu took a knife and sought revenge with a fatal stab.

On July 10th, Le Van Luu (30 years old), residing in Dien Thap commune, Dien Chau district, was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province for murder. Luu's victim was Mr. Nguyen Van Oanh from Tien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.

Mr. Oanh had done business in Laos for a while and became acquainted with Le Van Luu. One time, Luu visited Mr. Oanh's house and saw his daughter, Quynh (18 years old), who was pretty and charming. After some time, Quynh and Luu developed feelings for each other. Because his daughter was still young and did not have a stable job, Mr. Oanh's family strongly opposed the relationship. However, seeing how deeply the young couple loved each other, he gradually accepted it.

After dating for some time, Liu and the girl discussed marriage. Liu's family brought gifts to propose marriage, and the girl's family accepted, setting a date for the wedding.

However, after the engagement ceremony, Luu showed signs of being fond of drinking and partying. On one occasion, Luu borrowed his girlfriend's brother's car and pawned it to fund his gambling and debt, which greatly angered Mr. Oanh. On another occasion, Luu got drunk and vandalized Mr. Oanh's house. After these incidents, Mr. Oanh decided to postpone the wedding and announced the cancellation of the marriage, leaving Luu and his family stunned.

Representatives of the victim's family, along with a large number of local residents, came to observe the trial.

Having his wedding postponed and his love forbidden, Luu was furious. On March 2, 2013, Luu attended a neighbor's wedding. Seeing the bride and groom in their fancy clothes and hearing the congratulations, Luu became enraged and decided to go to Mr. Oanh's house to confront him. Without hesitation, that night, Luu went to Mr. Oanh's house, ran straight into the bedroom, and stabbed his future father-in-law fatally, killing him instantly.

After committing the crime, Liu intended to flee but realized he couldn't escape, so he later went to the police station to surrender.

At the trial on July 10th, after sentencing him to 16 years in prison, the judges ordered Luu to compensate the victim's family with 83 million VND.
