The Italian coach has spoken for the first time about losing his job at the Premier League champions in February.

After leaving Leicester, Claudio Ranieri returned to Italy. Recently, the 65-year-old coach appeared at the Rebibbia prison in his hometown, at an event honoring local football coaches.

Standing in front of the prisoners, Ranieri revealed his emotions for the first time since receiving Leicester's dismissal notice. "When I think about Leicester, the first thing that comes to my mind is surprise, it's more than a feeling of bitterness," Gazzetta dello Sports quoted Ranieri.

"I've been through a lot in my career but I've never felt like this. It was a shock. But at the end of the day, that's football."

Ranieri has promised to reveal more when he returns to England as a pundit for Crystal Palace's match against Arsenal on April 10. The Italian believes that what happens in England should be revealed in England.

Ranieri was sacked by Leicester in February, nine months after he led the club to their first Premier League title. British media speculated that some of the Foxes' players had betrayed the Italian coach, but Ranieri has not confirmed this.

Since manager Craig Shakespeare took over, Leicester have won all four of their matches and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
