RB Leipzig receives a shower of bonuses thanks to participating in the Champions League

In their first appearance in the Bundesliga, the East German team made a miracle by winning a ticket to the Champions League.

A 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin at the weekend ensured RB Leipzig secured a top-three finish in the Bundesliga, thereby qualifying directly for next season's Champions League group stage.

Participating in the top European competition for the first time in the club's eight-year history, Leipzig's leadership decided to open their wallets. First, each team participating in the Champions League group stage receives a salary of 14 million dollars from UEFA. Leipzig decided to use this money to reward all players and coaching staff without holding back. This amount is divided depending on the great or small contribution of each individual.

In addition, according to the signed contract, if Leipzig participates in the Champions League, all players will receive a total bonus of 11 million dollars. Leipzig's salary fund is currently 33 million dollars per season and next season will increase to 44 million dollars because of participating in the Champions League.

The player who received the most bonus was captain Dominik Kaiser. Under a contract signed in 2012, Kaiser was to receive an additional $330,000 if Leipzig reached Europe's top competition.

"I really can't believe that next season the club will be facing the best teams in Europe," Kaiser said. "What about the bonuses? I don't really care."

Due to their lack of European success, Leipzig will be placed in Pot Four when the draw is made, and will likely face strong opposition.
