Ceballos is expected to undergo a medical examination today, July 9th. The 20-year-old midfielder is reportedly set to sign a six-year contract with the Bernabeu club.
Ceballos was a transfer target for both Real Madrid and Barcelona after his brilliant performances at the U21 European Championship. However, Real Madrid won the race because the young Betis star expressed his desire to move to the Bernabeu.
Ceballos will meet his new teammates on July 21st after completing his summer vacation. He will participate in Real Madrid's summer tour, which begins on July 21st. At Real, Ceballos will reunite with Marco Asensio, his partner with whom he formed a strong partnership at the U21 European Championship and another promising young talent from the Bernabeu.
The signing of Ceballos could lead to the departure of Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian midfielder is frustrated by his lack of regular playing time, and Tottenham are the most interested in the deal. Reports suggest the English club has submitted a $28 million offer to Real Madrid for Kovacic.
Meanwhile, according to AS, after hearing the news of Ceballos' move to the Bernabeu, James Rodriguez wants to finalize his departure from Real within the next 48 hours.
