Real and Atletico receive good news about the winter transfer window
Spanish clubs will have an extra day to register new players, instead of the old deadline ending on January 31.
What can Real and Atletico do after FIFA ban / Real and Atletico banned from buying players for one year
Real and Atletico are now forced to rush to sign players to avoid FIFA bans in the next two transfer windows. Having an extra day in the January 2016 transfer window will therefore give the two clubs more opportunities.
"The deadline for registering new players in La Liga will end at 23:59 on February 1, like most other European national championships, instead of January 31 as originally scheduled," the announcement on January 25 by the La Liga Organizing Committee said.
La Liga is almost the slowest league to change the player registration schedule. Previously, the Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1 all extended the deadline to February 1. The Bundesliga even extended it to February 2.

La Liga's early registration schedule has caused many funny and sad stories in the transfer market. Last summer, Real could have bought David de Gea from Man Utd if it weren't for the procedural problems on the last day of the transfer window.
Real and Atletico are still pursuing their hopes of appealing the FIFA ban on registering players (applicable to the summer transfer window of 2016 and January 2017). If the appeal fails, the two clubs will have to use the maximum number of existing players and new players they can buy in the next few days.
