Nerekhta robot fires bullets in freezing conditions
Zvezda TV channel has just broadcast a surprising video about testing the Nerekhta combat robot in freezing climate conditions.
The released video shows two Nerekhta combat robots firing at stationary and mobile targets. The first robot is armed with a Cord large-caliber machine gun, the other is equipped with a Kalashnikov tank-mounted machine gun and an AG-30 grenade launcher.

During the test, Nerekhta combat robots led a combat unit in a clearing firefight, followed by an infantry unit including manned armored vehicles. All targets were quickly destroyed with extremely high accuracy.
"When testing is completed and put into service, the robot will be used for reconnaissance and engineering missions, and in the future, it will provide fire support for infantry on the battlefield," said Colonel Oleg Pomazuyev, Director of the Department of Innovative Research, General Directorate of Scientific Research, Ministry of Defense of Russia.
The Russian military came to this conclusion after summarizing and analyzing the results of 2016 comparative tests of combat robots at the Alabino test range.
"A separate route has been built for existing combat robots to demonstrate their capabilities in overcoming obstacles, water barriers, and shooting at targets," Mr. Pomazuyev said.

The Nerekhta robot system consists of a lightweight tracked chassis, an armored body and mounting points for specialized equipment. The vehicle platform is 2.5 m long, 1.6 m wide, 0.9 m high (excluding specialized equipment), and weighs nearly 1 ton with equipment installed.
Nerekhta was built as a universal transport vehicle for transporting goods and performing 14 other types of work.
Depending on the module installed on the vehicle, the robot can patrol the terrain, conduct reconnaissance, detect enemy artillery positions and evacuate wounded from the battlefield. To increase visibility, Nerekhta is equipped with an unmanned helicopter.
Nerekhta can be equipped with three types of modules: combat, transport and artillery reconnaissance. The combat module in different variants is equipped with a 12.7 mm Kord machine gun or a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, as well as an AG-30 automatic grenade launcher.
