Plane crash in Indonesia, only 12-year-old boy survives
A plane carrying seven passengers and two crew members crashed in a remote mountainous area in eastern Indonesia, killing eight people, officials said on August 12. The only survivor was a 12-year-old boy, according to VNA.

The Swiss-made Pilatus aircraft lost contact with air traffic control on August 11 while on a 40-minute flight in Papua province.
On the morning of August 12, after more than 2 hours of walking, rescuers found the crashed plane in a dense forest area in Oksibil, along with 8 bodies.
The cause of the incident has not been determined and Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee will investigate the crash, military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Dax Sianturi said.
Airplanes are a vital means of connecting the thousands of small islands in Indonesia. However, poor safety practices have led to a number of crashes in recent years.
