Rescue helicopter crashes in Nepal, at least 4 people killed

On June 2, a rescue plane crashed in Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district, killing at least four people.

Nepal police spokesman Kamal Singh Bom confirmed that the private Mountain Air helicopter had an accident and crashed in the Yamuna Dada area.

A police team immediately arrived at the scene and said they found four dead victims, including three men and one woman.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the helicopter crashed while participating in earthquake rescue operations in the area. However, details of the incident have not been released.

Previously, in May, a UH-1Y Huey helicopter of the US Marine Corps carrying six US Marines and two Nepalese soldiers went missing during a rescue flight to provide relief to earthquake victims in eastern Nepal.

Before going missing, the crew informed the ground that the plane had fuel problems.

The 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25 and its aftershocks killed at least 8,600 people and destroyed tens of thousands of homes. Less than three weeks later, another 7.4 magnitude earthquake devastated the country. The earthquake also affected neighboring countries such as India, China and Bangladesh.
