At that time, 18-month-old Nguyen Van Dat, the son of Dang Thi Duyen and Nguyen Van Hoang (living in Block 12, Cau Giat Town), had just learned to walk and was playing when he fell into the fish pond of the house next door. When people discovered and brought Dat up, he was dead and had scratches on his head from hitting the pond's foundation wall.
It is known that Dat is the second child of Hoang and Duyen. When the accident happened, Hoang (from Yen Thanh) was returning to his hometown to build a new house and prepare to move his family back to his hometown.
