Real Valladolid are back in La Liga after four years. Last season they fought for promotion and won the play-offs against Sporting Gijon and Numancia, behind direct-promoters Rayo Vallecano and Huesca. They are currently 16th in La Liga after two draws and one defeat.
Valladolid has been struggling financially this summer, so they have been largely frozen out of the player transfer market. La Liga has also asked the club to invest in renovating the José Zorrilla Stadium as the turf is substandard. Despite a 1-0 win, Barca's away players have complained that the pitch is uneven and has been stripped of grass.
Immediately after taking office, the 41-year-old new president called on Valladolid fans to join hands to build the club: "I want everyone to be part of this club and I invite the fans to participate in this project, to give us ideas, opinions, criticisms and wishes. I want you to be part of the present and future of Real Valladolid". In the immediate future, Valladolid will buy more players in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Challenges await the new boss ofValladolid, things are not simple even though "fat" Ro is considered successful in his football career. The immediate thing is probably to ensure that Real Valladolid can stay in the league successfully this season.
