Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo believes his team can beat Germany, the current EURO runners-up, in their opening match on June 10.

At EURO 2012, Portugal fell into group B of death with the presence of two leading candidates for the championship, Germany, the Netherlands, and the opponent that made them bitterly finish second in the qualifying round, Denmark.
As before other major tournaments, all the Portuguese people's expectations are placed on Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid player is ranked 2nd in the list of the best strikers in the history of the Portuguese team with 32 goals/88 matches. Most recently, he was given more strength when he and Real "defeated" Barca to win the Spanish championship for the 32nd time in history. More importantly, Ronaldo is very eager to show himself in this tournament to dispel criticism that he is not capable of shining in the team's shirt.
"We have been drawn in the toughest group at this EURO. Germany and the Netherlands are two of the best teams in the world. But on the bright side, facing the best teams in the world will force us to play with the utmost concentration and determination."
"The team is on the right track since coach Paulo Bento arrived. He is a great and intelligent person. He knows how to help the team achieve the best results," Ronaldo believes. "The remaining time for Portugal is too little, but we still have 16 days to prepare to build a reasonable playing style and practice tactical moves to beat Germany in the first match."
