Ronaldo won the 2016 FIFA Best Player award
CR7 surpassed Messi and Griezmann in the vote organized by the World Football Federation.
The FIFA Best Male Player 2016 was the final award presented at the Gala on the evening of January 9. As expected, Ronaldo won this award. FIFA President Gianni Infantino himself brought the draw results to the stage and announced them to the attention of hundreds of spectators in the auditorium as well as millions of fans watching on television.

Just like what happened with the Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo won the FIFA Best Player award thanks to his outstanding success at both club and national team level in 2016. This striker not only won the 2015-2016 Champions League with Real Madrid, but also contributed to the Portuguese team winning the Euro championship.
Having lost to Ronaldo in both finals, Antoine Griezmann continues to regretfully finish behind in the individual race. Similarly, three titles including La Liga, King's Cup and Spanish Super Cup could not help Lionel Messi surpass CR7.
This is the second time Ronaldo has won the FIFA Best Men's Player award. The first time was in 2008, after he won the Premier League and Champions League with Man Utd.
FIFA has only re-organized the FIFA Best Men's Player award since 2016. Previously, in the period 2010-2015, this award was combined with the Ballon d'Or of France Football magazine to form the FIFA Ballon d'Or. Ronaldo has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or twice in 2013 and 2014.
