Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar in top three of 'The Best' award

FIFA on September 22 announced three names in the final round of voting for the most prestigious individual award of 2017.

The three players on the final shortlist for "The Best" announced by FIFA are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar respectively.

Ronaldo, the current winner of the "The Best" award, had a successful 2016-2017 season when he won the double with Real Madrid: winning La Liga and successfully defending the Champions League title. The Portuguese superstar is also considered the most promising candidate for FIFA's prestigious individual award.

Ronaldo's number one rival of the past decade, Messi, only won one collective title in the 2016-2017 season, which was the King's Cup. However, the 30-year-old striker won the European Golden Shoe, after scoring 37 times in La Liga last season.

The Argentine superstar also scored more points thanks to his impressive form in the early stages of the 2017-2018 season. Messi has 12 goals in 8 matches, including 9 goals in La Liga. Meanwhile, Ronaldo is suspended for the first four rounds. In his first match in La Liga, the former Man Utd player played unluckily, causing Real to lose 0-1 at home to Betis.

Neymar is the third name on the list. The Brazilian star led Barca's attack last season, whenever Messi was absent. He also made his mark in the historic comeback against PSG in the Champions League round of 16 with a double.

At the 2016 awards ceremony, Ronaldo, Messi and Griezmann took the top three spots, with Neymar coming in fourth, just ahead of Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale.

The 2017 "The Best" awards ceremony will take place on October 23 in London, England. In addition to the three best players, FIFA also announced the three best goalkeepers of 2017 asGianluigi Buffon,Keylor Navas andManuel Neuer.
