Ronaldo squandered opportunities, Real Madrid were powerless against PSG.

Aiming for their third consecutive victory in the group stage, Real Madrid continued to demonstrate their superior class compared to their opponents. Rafa Benitez's team faced only one major problem: bad luck in front of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. Cristiano Ronaldo alone squandered three good opportunities, with two close-range headers and a diagonal shot. Marcelo and Toni Kroos also failed to convert their shots from outside the box.

The 0-0 draw means both teams remain at the top of Group A with seven points each. Malmo are in third place, earning three points from their direct 1-0 victory over Shakhtar in the other match played at the same time.

The goalless draw against PSG not only maintained Real Madrid's unbeaten run from the start of the season but also demonstrated the effectiveness of coach Benitez's defensive tactics. Without Benzema and Bale, Benitez successfully transformed Ronaldo into a high-pressure attacking threat while simultaneously building a solid defensive barrier that prevented the opposition from scoring. Throughout the match, apart from a few dribbles by Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore, the Parisian team created virtually no dangerous situations for goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

PSG's defense was just as good as Real's. However, against the high-class plays of Ronaldo and his teammates, the defenders led by Thiago Silva were still beaten on numerous occasions.

Real could have even scored earlier with two long-range opportunities at the start of the match. In both of these clear chances, Marcelo and Kroos both sent the ball wide of the goal.

If the two defenders regretted missing one of their chances, Ronaldo must have regretted it ten times more after having two close-range header opportunities in the 34th and 35th minutes. Goalkeeper Trapp proved worthy of his starting position with two spectacular saves.

The events after the break were not much different from the first half. PSG improved their game but failed to pose a real threat to Real. Cavani and Ibrahimovic were both lackluster, while Pastore and Lucas Moura's efforts were limited to controlling the ball.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo continued to miss a good opportunity in the 72nd minute. This time he faced Trapp but his angled shot narrowly missed the post.

With the draw in Paris, the two teams will have to wait until the match in Madrid two weeks later to determine the top spot in the group. PSG will then only need a draw with goals, while Real must win to determine their own fate.
