Rooney scores, Manchester United advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

This morning (February 17th), in the late match of the 5th round of the FA Cup, MU defeated Preston 3-1 to secure their place in the quarter-finals. Herrera, Fellaini, and Rooney were the goalscorers for MU. Preston's only goal was scored by Laird.

Trailing by a goal, manager Van Gaal instructed his players to play faster and put pressure on Preston. After many attempts, the "Red Devils" finally scored the equalizer through Herrera in the 65th minute.

Buoyed by the equalizer, MU played even better in the following minutes. As a result, in the 72nd minute, the visitors scored to take a 2-1 lead thanks to a goal from the curly-haired midfielder Fellaini.

But the action didn't stop there. In the 88th minute, Rooney scored the third goal for the "Red Devils" after successfully converting a penalty. Earlier, the MU captain had been fouled by goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann inside the penalty area.

Ultimately, MU successfully came from behind against Preston to secure their place in the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals, Van Gaal's team will face the reigning champions Arsenal.
