One of the US-made Patriot missiles launched to intercept the Houthis' missiles fell in a residential area.

On March 25, the Houthis announced that they had attacked a target, King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), with a Burkan 2H medium-range ballistic missile.

Another airport in the Abha area, southwest of Asir province, was also attacked by Houthi forces using Qaher 2M missiles.

The Houthis also attacked airports in the southern Saudi provinces of Najran and Jizan with several Bader-1 missiles, which were first unveiled on March 22.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia announced that its air defense system successfully intercepted a ballistic missile launched by rebels attacking the city of Riyadh.

However, a video posted by locals in Riyadh city showed that one of the US-made Patriot missiles launched to intercept the Houthis' missiles fell into a residential area.

Several civilians were injured in the incident, local sources said.

Saudi Arabia made no mention of the remaining missiles the rebels aimed at the provinces of Asir, Jizan and Najran.

However, sources said, many anti-aircraft missiles were launched in these provinces.

The Houthis said the missile attack was carried out in memory of Saudi Arabia's attack on Yemen.

Earlier, Houthis leader Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi promised in a televised speech that Yemen's missile system would see remarkable progress in 2018.
