Garlic wine - A valuable remedy of the world.
Garlic is a staple spice that everyone in Vietnam knows; it's also a traditional medicine that every traditional healer is familiar with. However, not many people know that garlic wine originated in Egypt.
Traditional medicine has used garlic to treat many diseases with good results. Ancient Egyptian tombs have found prescriptions made from garlic. In China, there were medicinal recipes using garlic as early as 2600 BC. In Russia, since the 19th century, garlic has been considered a medicinal herb...
Garlic, scientifically known as Allium sativum L., belongs to the Liliaceae family. The garlic bulb contains 0.10-0.36% essential oil, of which over 90% consists of sulfur compounds (S). The main component of garlic is allicin, which gives it its characteristic smell. However, fresh garlic does not contain allicin directly; instead, it contains aliin (an amino acid) – this substance, under the action of the enzyme alliinase, also present in garlic, only releases allicin when crushed. In addition, garlic bulbs contain many vitamins and minerals, especially selenium. Traditional Eastern medicine describes garlic as follows: pungent taste, warm nature, slightly toxic, enters the liver and stomach meridians, and has the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, killing bacteria, dispelling wind, opening the orifices, treating boils and lymph nodes in the neck, and clearing phlegm.

| Garlic wine can cure many diseases. |
Garlic can be used in various ways, but uniquely, almost every household in Egypt uses "garlic wine." In the 1970s, the World Health Organization (WHO) noticed that Egypt, a poor country with a harsh desert climate, had a generally good population with few diseases and a relatively high average life expectancy. Finding this unusual, the WHO sent many health experts to Egypt to study it. The researchers went to rural areas and penetrated regions with harsh climates to study and collect data related to health and disease. Their common observation was that every household had a jar of garlic wine for consumption; this custom had been maintained by the Egyptian people for centuries. Analysis of the research showed that garlic wine could treat four groups of diseases:
Bone and joint diseases (arthritis, joint calcification, bone and joint fatigue, etc.).
Respiratory diseases (sore throat, bronchitis, asthma...).
Cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, hypotension, atherosclerosis).
Gastrointestinal diseases (heartburn, indigestion, gastritis, peptic ulcers).
By 1983, Japanese medical professionals announced the addition of two more disease groups to the drug: hemorrhoids and diabetes, noting its high efficacy and lack of side effects.
How to prepare and drink garlic wine: Chop 40g of dried garlic (peeled) into small pieces and put it in a bottle with 100ml of 40-45% white wine. Shake the bottle occasionally. The wine will gradually change from white to yellow, and by the 10th day it will turn turmeric yellow and be ready to drink. Drink twice a day: 40 drops (equivalent to 1 teaspoon) in the morning before eating and 40 drops in the evening before bed. It will last about 20 days, so reheat every 10 days to ensure a continuous supply of garlic wine. With such a small amount of wine, even those who abstain from alcohol or cannot drink alcohol can use it.
In our country, many people have also applied this garlic wine remedy, but the dosage varies (some even drink up to 3 teaspoons of garlic wine at a time), and no side effects have been observed. Feedback indicates that garlic wine has effectively treated many different chronic diseases, with many people recovering. It can be said that garlic wine is a wonderful medicine, a gift from heaven to the poor...
Later, many scientists in various countries discovered numerous valuable therapeutic properties in garlic. Notably, its antibacterial and antifungal effects have been proven – experimental pharmacological studies have shown garlic to have a broad spectrum of antibacterial and antifungal activity. Its antiviral effects have also been discussed. Regarding the cardiovascular system, recent studies show that garlic helps reduce triglycerides and lower levels of bad cholesterol (LDL), while increasing good cholesterol (HDL), thus reducing lipid metabolism disorders in the blood. Garlic also has the potential to help the body prevent cancer, a fact acknowledged by many scientists; however, whether it can treat cancer once it has developed into a tumor remains unproven and requires further research.
Garlic has many benefits, that's clear. However, like any medicine, the appropriate dosage must be considered (too high a dose can be harmful) and potential side effects should be avoided. Excessive garlic use can cause bad breath, gastrointestinal disorders, and thyroid suppression. Therefore, the garlic tincture remedy should only be used at the dosages that the WHO has diligently researched and popularized. These dosages are effective in preventing and treating many diseases. Prioritizing safe usage means it can be used daily and long-term without worrying about unintended negative effects.
