Withdraw 1 person from the list, consider removing the name of 1 candidate for National Assembly delegate

According to sources, Mr. Nguyen The Anh, candidate for the 15th National Assembly in Kien Giang province, has submitted a request to withdraw from the candidate list.

Mr. Nguyen The Anh, born on August 10, 1973, Provincial Party Committee member, Colonel, Commander of the Border Guard Command of Kien Giang province, was proposed by the Kien Giang Provincial Election Committee and announced by the National Election Council in the official list of candidates for the XV National Assembly, but due to personal factors, including health problems, this candidate submitted a petition stating the reasons and asked to withdraw from the candidate list.

Candidates for the 15th National Assembly in Kien Giang province met voters and campaigned.

According to the provisions of the Law on Election of Deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils, the Law on OrganizationNational AssemblyOne of the conditions for running for the National Assembly is to be healthy enough to perform the duties of a delegate.

After receiving the request from the Kien Giang Provincial Election Committee, the National Election Council reviewed and weighed the actual personnel situation of the locality and approved the Kien Giang Provincial Election Committee's request to remove Mr. Nguyen The Anh from the list of candidates for the XV National Assembly.

The National Election Council also adjusted the number and personnel of candidates for the National Assembly in two out of three constituencies of Kien Giang province to ensure the election of the prescribed number of National Assembly deputies. Therefore, the withdrawal of candidates from the election list will not affect the number of deputies to the XV National Assembly that have been allocated.

After Mr. Nguyen The Anh withdrew from the list, Kien Giang province has 13 candidates left to elect 8 National Assembly deputies.

Of these 13 candidates, 3 were assigned by the Central Government to local levels, including: Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long; Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tuan - Standing Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 14th National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Danh Tu - Director of the Center for Legislative Science Research, Institute for Legislative Studies under the National Assembly Standing Committee.

The source also said that the National Election Council is currently in the process of removing the name of another candidate running for the 15th National Assembly in Hanoi. The reason is that this candidate is related to a case that the police investigation agency is investigating. The National Election Council has sent out a ballot to ask for members' opinions. After synthesizing the opinions of the members, the National Election Council will make an official decision on this case.
