"Russia's S-400 air defense missile system is potentially a powerful air defense shield, a weapon that changes the calculations of the United States and its allies in potential hot spots, starting with Syria, where the system is deployed," the Wall Street Journal commented.
Washington admits that Moscow's military strengths have deprived the army of its "geopolitical advantage" and its ability to "act freely" and "threaten the vital interests of the United States."
The Triumph system's popularity in Turkey, India, and Saudi Arabia has raised concerns in Washington and NATO, the article noted.
"While Russia is gradually implementing the terms of the contract, the expansion of the S-400's area of effect creates barriers that threaten the unconditional US air superiority, which has been unchanged for decades in the Middle East, the Arctic and parts of Asia," the journalist noted.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Russian air defense system is significantly superior to the US Patriot air defense system, as it is capable of "tracking up to 300 potential targets at a distance of 250 miles."
