Coming to Hung Son today, our first impression was the vast green of tea hills and sugarcane fields. The strong vitality of this main crop has contributed to changing the lives of the people here.

These achievements were achieved thanks to the drastic participation of the Party Committee and the government, which focused on directing the implementation of economic development projects: Converting crop structure to bring sugarcane to the fields, the project "Irrigating dry crops", the project to renovate mixed gardens to develop forest garden economy, develop crops in the fields...

Hung Son aims to invest in fertilization and increase productivity of crops grown on alluvial soil, industrial tea, and sugarcane. Up to now, the sugarcane area of ​​the whole commune has reached over 131.8 hectares/year, and the development of sugarcane area has reached 71 hectares. The commune has coordinated with Song Lam Sugarcane Joint Stock Company to organize training courses on sugarcane planting and care techniques for the people.

Thanks to that, the average sugarcane yield is estimated at 100 tons/ha, the output is 11,862 tons. In 2018, the commune plans to expand the sugarcane area to 80 hectares of alluvial land, bringing the total sugarcane area of ​​the commune to nearly 200 hectares, gradually forming a high-quality sugarcane area with the application of science and technology in production.

As the main crop in the area, after the revolution of bringing tea trees to the hills, the area of ​​industrial tea trees in the commune has now reached 484 hectares (commercial tea trees 470 hectares). With the orientation of developing commercial tea trees, the commune has implemented the project "Irrigation of dry crops" to keep the raw material area moist, encouraging organizations and households to open high-quality tea processing models.

Hung Son Tea Processing Service Enterprise, 3 models of Cooperatives purchasing and processing high-quality tea, bringing product value and income. Thanks to that, in 2017, the estimated output of tea buds reached nearly 6,000 tons/5,700 tons of the plan, reaching 103.6% of the plan, an increase of 1,650 tons over the same period. Revenue from industrial tea cultivation of the commune's people reached nearly 20 billion VND/year.

Hung Son also focuses on building a number of livestock and poultry farming models on farms and ranches. Strengthening the management of ponds and dams to retain moisture, combining aquaculture to create high income value. Thanks to that, in 2017, the economic growth rate of the commune is estimated to reach over 10%.

To achieve these successes, the Party Committee, the government and the Fatherland Front of the commune have played a good role in setting an example, not afraid of difficulties, and determined to innovate. In particular, the ethnic minorities have united, joined hands, and contributed to overcoming difficulties and building a new life.
