The sight of Saigon people diligently traveling and working in heavy rain and strong winds, with water up to their wheels, makes Western tourists admire and fascinate.

Working in IT, Sherry had no idea she had such a passion for traveling the world until she quit her job in 2006. Since then, Sherry has explored more than 23 countries and experienced many interesting things beyond the walls of the office.

After her travels, Sherry said she had no desire to return to office life. Instead of selling her possessions, she lived in Vietnam for a year to earn money to fund her future travels.

During a visit to Saigon during the rainy season, Sherry felt lucky to have seen the city under the wrath of the sky before the water poured down on the ground.

Sherry was driving at the time and was carrying a camera to record the scene of people rushing through the pouring rain.

According to Sherry, she was often advised not to go to Southeast Asia because of all sorts of weather reasons, such as it being the rainy season, the monsoon season, or the extremely hot weather at a certain time of the year.

However, what people don't know is that Sherry actually loves traveling during the rainy season and she keeps this a secret. Sometimes she wonders if she should share the wonderful things that people often miss in a country just because of less than ideal weather conditions.

Having experienced many cultures, Sherry believes that people will have many opportunities to interact with the daily lives of indigenous people in harsh weather conditions.

Far-away visitors will have the most authentic feeling about the country, culture and local traditions through “difficult” times.

Visitors also get to know many unique local products that people only use in special weather conditions.

When it rains, visitors can see Vietnamese people using double raincoats, or raincoats specifically for motorbike riders with a space for the front headlights.

“I saw the streets flooded with rainwater and people did not stop for even a minute. The rain was not enough to stop them and foreign tourists should not hesitate to explore the city in this weather,” Sherry shared.
