Sam Ngoc Duc "talked dirty", Chairman Huu Thang officially spoke up
The policy of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Club is to build a good image of the club in the eyes of the fans, so the incident of Sam Ngoc Duc's rough tackle on Nguyen The Hung made the leaders unable to sit still. Chairman Nguyen Huu Thang has just officially spoken out.
In the match between Ho Chi Minh City FC and Than Quang Ninh at Thong Nhat Stadium in round 20 of V.League 2018, when the score was 2-1 in favor of the home team, defender Sam Ngoc Duc made a dangerous tackle on the left wing. The ball was 50/50, but the former Hanoi FC player kicked straight into The Hung's shoulder, causing the Than Quang Ninh defender to lie on the ground in pain.

Fortunately for the Dong Nai defender, he was able to defend himself in time so no unfortunate injury occurred. But for Sam Ngoc Duc, he received a direct red card from the main referee Tran Van Lap.
The disastrous tackle by Sam Ngoc Duc not only affected the player himself, his colleague The Hung and the Ho Chi Minh City Club, but also the image of the country's football. Understanding that, the Club's President, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang, publicly apologized to the fans.
“It is possible to tackle aggressively, because it is a combat sport, but such offensive moves are not allowed, they must be eliminated at all costs. Ngoc Duc has apologized to The Hung and the coaching staff of Than Quang Ninh. He knows his mistake is very serious and any explanation at this time is unnecessary. We are very sorry, we apologize to The Hung personally, Than Quang Ninh Club as well as the fans for this offensive incident,” Chairman Nguyen Huu Thang replied to Thanh Nien newspaper.
“I told Duc, players have different personalities. I was like that too, not just you. As a man, you have to know how to maintain mental balance when entering the field. This is also a lesson for the players of Ho Chi Minh City Club. Once on the field, everyone must focus on their skills and overcome all side stories. As for the club, we do not interfere in the work of coach Toshiya Miura, and will accept any punishment from the VFF Disciplinary Board and will re-educate the athletes,” the former head coach of the Vietnam National Team concluded.
For his part, defender Sam Ngoc Duc also said he had apologized to player The Hung of T.Quang Ninh Club. The player from Nghe An also said he would accept any punishment given by the VFF but hoped to have the opportunity to correct his mistakes later.
