Hang Day Stadium, Nam Dinh fans officially received punishment from VFF

On the morning of September 13, the Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) met to issue disciplinary action against the parties involved in the incident of fans lighting flares at Hang Day Stadium during the match between Hanoi FC and Nam Dinh on September 11.

Accordingly, the VFF Disciplinary Board has decided to punish the Hang Day Stadium Organizing Committee, forcing Hanoi FC to hold the next two matches in the 2019 season without spectators. These are Hanoi's two matches with Viettel (round 23) and Quang Nam (round 25).

Thus, if Hanoi Club is crowned, it will receive the 2019 V.League championship on a field without spectators.

Mr. Hien's team was also fined 85 million VND, including 70 million VND for letting fans light flares and 15 million VND for fans' uncontrolled behavior towards the organizers and throwing objects onto the field.

Along with the fault of allowing fans to light flares, throw objects and make uncontrolled statements on the field, Nam Dinh Club was fined 85 million VND. VFF also banned Nam Dinh fans from attending the team's next two away matches.

“The violations at Hang Day Stadium are systematic, and the fans’ flare-lighting behavior is serious. We believe that this is a necessary punishment for the stadium’s organizers to tighten safety and security. However, we also believe that fans need to raise awareness and be responsible for football,” said Vu Xuan Thanh, head of the VFF Disciplinary Committee.
