(Baonghean.vn) - In 2023, Nghe An's aquatic product output reached nearly 278,000 tons, an increase of 4.3% over the same period last year, of which marine seafood exploitation reached more than 199,000 tons. The total economic value of aquatic products is estimated at 5,000 billion VND.

Of which, aquaculture output is estimated at more than 70,788/plan of 63,000 tons, reaching 112.36% of the annual plan, up 6.14% over the same period last year; freshwater farming output is more than 55,466 tons; brackish and saltwater farming is 15,322 tons.
Privateseafood exploitationreached more than 199,000/plan 187,000 tons, reaching 106.7% compared to the yearly plan, up 3.5% over the same period last year; inland exploitation reached more than 7,641/plan 5,000 tons, reaching 152.83% compared to the yearly plan, up 4.57% over the same period last year.


With outputaquatic productsIn general, with such a catch, Nghe An people earned an estimated 5 trillion VND, of which fishermen working in seafood exploitation earned an estimated 4 trillion VND.
Nghe An currently has an estimated number of 3,336 fishing vessels, of which 1,089 are 15 m or longer, accounting for 32.64%. Nghe An fishermen mainly exploit seafood by: gillnets, purse seines, dragnets and fishing. Of these occupations, the purse seine fishery has the highest yield, the main products are pelagic fish (anchovies, mackerel, silver pomfret, herring, etc.).

Along with the development of the fishing industry, up to now, Nghe An has had 4 fishing ports invested in and built by the State, including Quynh Phuong fishing port, Lach Quen fishing port, Lach Van fishing port and Cua Hoi fishing port. Among these fishing ports, 3 fishing ports have been announced as designated fishing ports, with a complete system to confirm the origin of aquatic products from exploitation. In particular, Lach Quen fishing port has just been upgraded and can be used as an anchorage for 500-700 ships...
Nghe An has also been approved by the Government for a plan for a system of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing vessels by 2030. The province has planned 5 storm shelters with a total capacity for 3,100 fishing vessels; including 1 regional storm shelter and 4 provincial storm shelters. Up to now, all 5 storm shelters for fishing vessels in the province have been announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as qualified for operation with a total capacity of 2,000 vessels of all kinds, equal to 65% of the planned anchorage capacity...
