Ready for cultural and sports exchange program between the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam and Laos

On the afternoon of July 25, at the People's Court of Nghe An province, Comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court and Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province co-chaired the Conference on deploying preparations for the Cultural and Sports Exchange between the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam and the Supreme Court of Laos. This event was held from September 12-15 in Nghe An. This is an activity to celebrate the country's major holidays, the 74th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Court of Vietnam (September 13, 1945 - September 13, 2019) and the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2019).

In the spirit of solidarity and strengthening friendship between court officials of the two countries, the program's activities include: competitions in 5 sports (volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, tug of war) and cultural exchange.

The conference discussed and agreed on the preparation contents, affirming that this is not only a cultural and sports activity but also has important diplomatic significance, with the participation of high-ranking leaders of the two countries and hundreds of people's court athletes from the two countries. Therefore, the preparation of facilities, logistics and security is highly appreciated.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh said that up to this point, the preparation work has been closely coordinated by Nghe An province and relevant localities and units, and specific tasks have been assigned to each sub-committee.

Comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court highly appreciated the preparation work of Nghe An province and related agencies and units, and emphasized that this is an important event to promote the spirit of solidarity, expand exchanges and learn from experiences between civil servants and public employees of the People's Courts of Vietnam and Laos. Contributing to consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to ensure safety and care to avoid mistakes.

Next, also at the working session, comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh listened to the leaders of the People's Court of Nghe An province report on the results of implementing mediation work according to the policy of the Central Steering Committee for Reform and the plan of the Supreme People's Court on expanding the pilot innovation, strengthening mediation and dialogue at people's courts in 16 provinces, including the People's Court of Nghe An province.

Accordingly, in 8 months, the provincial Mediation Centers received 2,662 petitions, resolved 2,379 petitions, reaching a rate of 89.3%. Of which, the number of cases summoned for mediation was 1,850, and 529 cases were not summoned for mediation; the number of successful mediations was 1,457/2,379 cases, reaching a rate of 61.2%.

The Chief Justice of Nghe An Provincial People's Court also made recommendations to the working delegation on a number of problems and shortcomings related to mediation work in order to find solutions.
