This morning (October 20th), the 8th session of the 13th National Assembly opened. This is the first National Assembly session to be held in the Dien Hong Hall, the new National Assembly building, in Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.

The new National Assembly building on Doc Lap Street, situated between the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on one side and the historic Ba Dinh Square on the other, is considered the largest and most aesthetically pleasing public office building ever constructed, featuring modern technology.

The 8th session of the 13th National Assembly will dedicate approximately two-thirds of its time to legislative work. Specifically, the National Assembly will consider and approve 18 draft laws and 3 draft resolutions; and provide opinions on 12 other draft laws. At the same time, the session will also focus on oversight and decision-making on important socio-economic issues, the state budget, and reports on the work of the judicial sector.

In the afternoon, the National Assembly heard reports and verification reports on the results of the implementation of the 2014 state budget, the 2015 state budget estimates and the central budget allocation plan. They also heard presentations and verification reports on draft laws amending and supplementing certain articles of the Law on Special Consumption Tax; the Law on State Budget (amended); and the Law on State Audit (amended).
